IWC was founded in Schaffhausen, Switzerland in 1868. It is unusual for a brand name to have an English name in a German-speaking country, as the founder was American and the brand was named in English with the intention of releasing its watches in the American market.
It uses the caliber 972, which has a beautiful Côtes de Genève finish.
