ORIS is a Swiss brand with a history spanning over 100 years. The Big Crown, a classic Oris series, is characterized by its unique calendar pointer date display , which is located around the periphery of the dial.

Oris has released a commemorative model in honour of Hank Aaron, the Hall of Fame baseball great and humanitarian.

Oris is collaborating with the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation, a US-based non-profit organisation.

Henry Louis (Hank) Aaron hit his 715th home run, breaking Babe Ruth's record that had stood for 40 years. He hit 755 home runs in his 23-year baseball career before retiring in 1976.

Of his achievement, he said:

"I would be happy if I could be an example not only to my own children, but to all people that no matter what difficulties they face, if they work hard they can succeed. I want all children to keep trying and not give up. I want them to know that they have the potential to do anything."

He was also a great humanitarian, never seeking the limelight but widely known for his work.

As its name suggests, the Big Crown features a large crown designed to be easily operated even while wearing gloves. Its ease of adjustment and winding made it extremely popular among U.S. Air Force pilots during World War II.

The crystal is domed, reminiscent of old military watches, and is made of sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inside.

The indexes and hands are coated with luminous paint, which makes them glow green in the dark, making it convenient to check the time even in dark places like when you get home in the evening or at the cinema.
