The Aquis Date , which served as the base for this upcycle, boasts a high level of design that makes it suitable for everyday use in town, as well as specifications that make it fully prepared for even the most demanding diving adventures around the world.

The serious problem of plastic waste

According to statistics from the United Nations Environment Programme, 13 million tonnes of plastic enters the ocean every year – the equivalent of one truckload of plastic every minute.

According to a National Geographic article, there are 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic litter in the ocean, 269,000 tons of which are floating on the surface. It is believed that only 9% of all plastic ever produced has been recycled.

Over the past few years, Oris has been raising funds and awareness for pioneering marine conservation efforts around the world as part of its Change for the Better mission.

And now, the company has been officially certified as climate neutral by Climate Partners, a private organization specializing in climate change action.

To mark this new chapter, the company is introducing the Aquis Date Upcycle, a high-performance diver's watch featuring a colorful dial made from recycled PET plastic.

As well as showing how plastic can be recycled and upcycled into luxury watch parts, the aim is to invite people all over the world to join in the clean-up.

The Aquis Date Upcycle is available in 41.5mm and 36.5mm case diameters, both featuring dials made from recycled ocean plastic.

The recycling process creates random patterns, meaning no two dials are the same, making each watch truly unique .

The Aquis Date Upcycle celebrates Oris becoming climate neutral and symbolizes our ongoing mission to preserve a beautiful planet for future generations.

The watch is also equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel, which is used to measure elapsed time. Running out of oxygen in a tank can be life-threatening during diving. The unidirectional rotating bezel prevents accidental operation underwater, further enhancing safety.

30 ATM water resistance is also written as 300m water resistance. It is the performance of a full-fledged diver's watch that can withstand skin diving and scuba diving. It cannot be used for saturation diving.
