This model was issued to a secret, elite special unit of the NVA (East German Army), consisting of just 100 strong soldiers.

Ruhla was founded in 1862 by the Thiel brothers as a metal parts manufacturer in Ruhla, Thuringia, and began producing watches and other items in 1892. The Bauhaus building, renowned for its architecture, was constructed by Schreiter and Schlag, and it was in this building that Ruhla brand watches were manufactured.
