Royal Army W10 Watch

This is the sixth installment in the MRMW series, a timeless reissue of classic military watches. This time, we've recreated a classic watch from the British military.

This wristwatch was produced by the UK's Mil-Spec Defence Standards on May 19th, 1971, for Royal Air Force and Army soldiers. The Royal Air Force called it the Royal Air Force 6B, and the Army called it the W10.

The fact that it was distributed to soldiers at the time speaks to its ease of use.

mark

Broad Arrow, official British government supply certificate

It is stamped with the Broad Arrow mark as proof of British government supply.

The Broad Arrow, a bird's claw-like mark above 6 o'clock, is printed as a mark of official British government supply. Its history dates back to Sir Henry Sidney Earl, who served as Quartermaster General, first used his family crest, a trident fennon, as a military mark, and it was later officially adopted as the government mark by an Act of Parliament in 1696.

This Broad Arrow can still be seen on manholes in Hong Kong, which was under Hong Kong's rule.

The green Super-LumiNova finish provides excellent visibility even in the dark.

What is a military watch?

A watch worn by soldiers on the battlefield.

Pocket watches were originally used, but towards the end of the 19th century, a German soldier began wearing one on his wrist, making it more convenient, and pocket watches became popular on the battlefield.

Pocket watches had the disadvantage of requiring one hand to be occupied when wearing them, so the idea of wearing it on the wrist was simple yet revolutionary.

Records show that around 1880, German Emperor Wilhelm I had wristwatches manufactured for the German Navy.

There are now many different designs of wristwatches, but their roots lie in military watches (watches worn by soldiers).

Today, it is loved by military fans around the world not only for its history, but also for its rugged, minimalist, masculine design and easy-to-use functionality.
