During the Showa era of the Japanese National Railways, the 19SEIKO was a favorite among railway workers for its high precision.

During the Seikosha era, Kintaro Hattori, the founder of Seikosha, wanted to create a watch that would rival the foreign-made watches that were being used at the time.

In 1919, Seiko continued to develop high-precision watches.

This watch continued to evolve through small, minor changes until 1971.

The Type 100 flight watch was used in the cockpit of a Zero fighter during the Pacific War.

A watch that was difficult to repair was customized using a 19 Seiko movement.
