This is an original Seibido Watch Shop pocket watch made with vintage parts except for the hands. The movement stands out prominently, and when wound, it vibrates at a low beat of 18,000 vibrations. The hands are kept to a minimum, with only the hour and minute hands, allowing you to enjoy the dynamic movement of the mechanical movement, one of the charms of skeleton watches.

The hour and minute hands are blued steel hands in the traditional Breguet style. Tempered blue hands are resistant to rust and other deterioration, and are time-consuming to produce, making them a part commonly used in luxury watches today. Unlike blued hands, these have a distinctive deep, rich blue color.

This watch uses vintage parts, including the movement, so it has some minor scratches, but it has been finished into a pocket watch that is still in good condition and can be used for a long time. The movement has been overhauled and properly oiled, and it is a Unitas movement, which is also used in current pocket watches, so you can use it without any special care. There are many skeleton movements, but a skeleton that shows the entire structure is very rare.

I purchased a Shobido original pocket watch, and what surprised me was that it was a one-of-a-kind skeleton watch.

■Question 2: What was it about the product you purchased that attracted you?

I was thinking of buying a pocket watch with a double-sided skeleton, but most of the gears and some of the plates on regular manufacturer's products are made of metal, so there are parts of the back that cannot be seen.

On the other hand, the original skeleton pocket watch I purchased this time uses a plate with a hollowed-out gear, allowing me to see the details of the parts on the back.
