The history of "Maki-e" dates back to the ancient Japanese period, and evidence of its use can be seen in works such as the Shosoin Imperial Treasure "Gold and Silver Fine-Trimmed Tang Sword."
Maki-e, a decorative lacquerware technique in which gold, silver, tin powder, colored powder, etc. are sprinkled on a lacquered base, was an important part of interior furnishings and temple decorations during the Heian period, and laid the foundation for its use to this day. It is said that most of the basic techniques were perfected by the mid-Muromachi period. The original stationery items such as writing boxes, inkstone boxes, and brushes were given maki-e, enhancing their artistic quality.
"Maki-e" is the essence of Japanese beauty and traditional crafts that we want to keep close to us and experience its beauty at all times.

The watch itself is a pocket watch from Citizen, a popular Japanese brand. Despite its small case size, the dial features highly legible Arabic numerals for easy reading.

A beautiful and valuable Maki-e pocket watch can be worn like an accessory. It is always in your sight, so you can enjoy looking at it, rather than leaving it in your pocket.
It also fits well with kimonos, so please use the included silk cord.

This piece, created by artisan Kazutoshi Tsuji, is called "Small Flowers." Gold and white floral patterns are painted on black lacquer. It's a cute and gorgeous design.
The watch comes with a strap that has been carefully hand-woven one by one. It is made using only dyed raw silk (100% silk). When you hold it in your hand, you can feel the suppleness that only raw silk can provide.

The product also comes with a dedicated box, instruction manual, and warranty card. (Design may be subject to change.)
