This piece combines the traditional European craft of clock making with the ancient Japanese technique of maki-e.
The maki-e technique, designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property of Japan, is beautifully expressed by first-class craftsmen using first-class techniques. Each pocket watch is hand-finished, making it one of a kind in the world.
The sparkling flower on the white dial is the edelweiss, the national flower of Switzerland.
When you think of Switzerland, you think of the Alps. This flower, which is widely distributed in the mountainous region, means "noble white."
It is covered in fluffy white fluff and, as the national flower, is often featured in the designs of various Swiss-made watches.

Graduated from Ishikawa Prefectural Wajima Lacquer Crafts Technical Training Institute in 1978
From 1980 onwards, he has been self-studying and mastering maki-e techniques to the present day.
