The Vostok Europe Lunokhod II Chronograph is a wristwatch inspired by the Lunokhod, an unmanned lunar rover launched by the former Soviet Union.
This monster watch features a large case measuring approximately 49mm in diameter and 17.5mm thick, a trigger light system, and is water resistant to 300m!
What is Lunokhod?
The former Soviet Union launched the Lunokhod Project, which aimed to explore the lunar surface remotely from Earth. The vehicle that was sent to the surface was the Lunar Rover.
Lunokhod-2 successfully reached the lunar surface and then traveled approximately 37 km across the lunar surface, completing its mission of transmitting 86 panoramic images and 80,000 television images to Earth.
By the way, LUNOKHOD means "Moonwalker" in Russian.
It is equipped with the T25 micro gas light, a self-illuminating system that incorporates a tritium light developed by mb-microtec into a glass tube and continues to emit light day or night for approximately 10 years.
This model also has some luminous paint applied to it, making it easier to see the time in the dark.
*To make it easier to understand, we use a black light to photograph the tritium so that it stands out. Colors may appear different on different monitors, so please consider the actual brightness to be slightly subdued compared to the image.
The Lunokhod 2 is water resistant to 300m, making it perfect for swimming, recreational sports, and diving.
Helium release valve included
In order to dive in the deep sea, where the water pressure (atmospheric pressure) is many times greater than that on land, divers stay in places called decompression chambers or diving stations for several days to acclimate their bodies.
These spaces are filled with air containing helium, which, because its molecules are small and highly permeable, can penetrate into the interior of a watch (such as a diver's watch).
If the watch is allowed to float back to Earth while still filled with helium, a pressure difference will occur between the inside and outside of the watch, causing it to break.
To prevent this, a valve is provided to release the helium that has built up inside the watch.
The back of the Vostok Europe Lunokhod 2 is engraved with a portrait of the lunar rover (Lunokhod), which it is a homage to. While not usually visible, this subtle detail surely tickles a man's playful side.
The included waterproof storage case contains a replacement silicone strap, tools for changing the strap, a warranty card, and instructions.
You can change the strap to suit the situation, such as switching to a stainless steel strap when diving or a stainless steel strap when going to work.
The dedicated case can be used not only to store the watch set, but also as a dry box to store important diver-related equipment such as cameras and documents on board a boat or yacht.
The large, thick case and striking dial design make this a watch that can be paired with hard fashion styles such as military styles.
