Perseo is a national brand known to all Italians. It is also the official supplier of railway watches to the Italian State Railways (FS).

Perseo brand watches are designed to be robust and accurate, and to be "watch-like."

The cover features a depiction of the Santa Maria, the ship on which Christopher Columbus, an explorer and navigator during the Age of Discovery, with realistic carvings of dynamic waves, clouds, and sails billowing in the wind.

The case back features the Columbus family coat of arms, said to have been bestowed by Queen Isabella I of Castile upon her discovery of the New World.

It is engraved with "1492," the year the ship set sail across the Atlantic, and "1992," commemorating the 500th anniversary of that.

"Perseo" is an Italian word derived from Perseus, a hero in Greek and Roman mythology.

Perseo was founded around 1861 or 1871 and was originally the sole Italian distributor of the Swiss watch company Cortebert Watch Company. However, Perseo invested in Cortebert, so it was not just a sole distributor but also a shareholder of Cortebert.

In 1927, Perseo was selected as the official supplier of railway clocks for the Italian State Railways. Even now, nearly 100 years later, Perseo continues to supply railway clocks with official certification from the Italian State Railways.

Perseo is one of the few watch companies in the world that produces officially certified railway watches, and there is no other company in the world that has been producing railway watches for nearly 100 years like Perseo.

Just as in the past, Perseo is still the "Italian watch" for Italians.

The watch features rounded Arabic numerals and simple hands. In addition to the 12-hour display, there are also red 24-hour indexes around the outer edge.

The dial is a striking combination of red, black and white, and is also highly legible.

It also comes with a dedicated chain. Once you receive your pocket watch, you can take it with you on your outings right away. (The chain design may change.)

The case is made of Zamac 5 (zinc alloy 5), the most widely used zinc alloy in Europe, known for its high strength, ease of processing, and suitability for plating.
