The Laco brand was founded in 1925 by Frieda Lacher and Ludwig Hummel.

During World War II, Laco manufactured pilot watches for the German Air Force. Their excellent precision and quality were recognized, leading them to manufacture and supply pilot watches for the German Air Force. The manufacturers authorized to supply navigation watches to the Luftwaffe at the time were the world-famous brands IWC, A. Lange & Söhne, Stowa, Wempe, and Laco .
